Description

Announcing Spring Quarter Faculty Roundtables

Select Fridays at the TECHB@R in the Regenstein Library (JRL 162).

Faculty Roundtables on Advanced Teaching Practices and Technologies continues in spring quarter. The lunch-hour roundtables, co-sponsored by the Chicago Center for Teaching and ASTS, offer faculty an opportunity to discuss good pedagogical practices and encourage instructors to share effective pedagogical tools. At each roundtable, featured faculty members from across the University will briefly share their experiences on a featured topic, after which the majority of time will be devoted to discussion and questions. A light lunch will be provided. The roundtables are open to all faculty, and we especially encourage new faculty to attend.

April 24, 2015 - Note special time - 11:30 - 1:00 p.m. — By What Criteria?: Using Rubrics to Promote Student Learning

Join Kavita Kapadia Matsko and Bill Kennedy from the University's Urban Teacher Education Program for a discussion about the use of rubrics to support student assessment. They'll talk about the features and benefits of rubrics, share examples from their practice, and pass along a few tips to get started on creating your own. This brief presentation will be coupled with a demonstration from ASTS on the rubric tool in Chalk/Canvas.
